Many students who live in Athens-Clarke County are faced with very unique challenges which often prevent them from excelling in education and acquiring a job that provides a livable wage. Here is just one startling fact: According to an article in the Athens-Banner Herald, the U.S. Census Bureau concluded that nearly 40 percent of Clarke County residents were living below the poverty line in 2014. Nonetheless, our organization seeks to help all students appreciate their background while recognizing their potential to become educated and productive citizens.
